James Caron is a life-long New Englander, and has resided in four of the six NE states. An artist since childhood, he spent three decades of his professional career working as a graphic designer and creative director, producing promotional materials for major technology companies, financial firms, medical facilities, and so on. This experience has led to a great fluency in color, composition and narrative quality.
He has received academic training in art throughout his career, including coursework in drawing, painting, portraiture, watercolor and pastels, and has studied art at Syracuse University, Merrimack College, The University of Massachusetts, Rivier College, and the New Hampshire Institute of Art. In addition, he has mentored with a number of accomplished artists over many years.
Caron's work typically involves dynamic brushwork and evidence of the hand -- even in realistic works -- in the manner of Manet and Sargent. This frequently results in paintings that have a lively, "moving right before your eyes" quality. In addition to the landscapes featured here, Caron also has a passion for abstract and conceptual work.
